Atlanta rapper 21 Savage, who is now facing deportation to his native UK, was driving in a reckless manner and had a loaded handgun in the glove compartment at the time of his arrest last weekend, it emerged today.

The 26-year-old rapper, who is nominated for two awards at the Grammys next Sunday, was driving in a reckless manner and had a loaded Glock handgun in the glove compartment at the time of his arrest last weekend, it was revealed today.

As TMZ first reported, citing police reports related to the February 3 traffic stop in Atlanta, the Grammy-nominated artist, born in England with the given name Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was behind the wheel of a red dodge Challenge when he came close to crashing into a marked cop car.

21 Savage (right) was allegedly driving a red Dodge Charger recklessly and nearly hit a cop car before he was taken into the custody of ATF and then ICE

Police pulled over the Dodge after the rapper allegedly drove across the sidewalk.

According to the documents obtained by the gossip site, responding officers ordered Abraham-Joseph to stop the car and throw his keys out the window, which he did, along with a bottle containing an unknown liquid.

When police searched the red Dodge, they reportedly discovered a loaded Glock with an extended magazine, according to an evidence list included in the report.

The rapper’s 2018 track ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes’ includes a track titled ‘Glock,’ in which Abraham-Joseph talks about having a Glock hanging from his waistband.

Rapper Young Nudy, who was driving beside 21 Savage, was arrested on gang and aggravated assault charges

The British-born artist also often poses with firearms in photos appearing on social media.

Abraham-Joseph was taken away in handcuffs by Alcohol Firearms and Tobacco agents, and ultimately ended up in the custody of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ICE spokesman Bryan Cox said on Sunday that the rapper was put in deportation proceedings because he has been living in the US illegally since 2006 and has a felony conviction.

According to the police reports documenting Abraham-Joseph’s arrest, the target of the multi-agency sting operation in Atlanta was another rapper, Young Nudy, who was in a different car driving alongside the red Dodge.

Young Nudy, born Quantavious Thomas, was booked into the DeKalb jail on aggravated assault and gang charges allegedly stemming from an unspecified incident that occurred two years prior – and in which he previously had been cleared by the Atlanta police Department, according to his lawyer.

A third car on the scene, which was operated by Kalil Smith, was reportedly found to contain an M4 rifle with a muzzle.

Smith, who raps under the stage name SG Tip, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of street gang terrorism and prevention act.

Abraham-Joseph, 26, has three children who are American citizens

Law firm Kuck Baxter Immigration released a statement earlier this week saying US officials have known about Abraham-Joseph’s immigration status since at least 2017 when he sought a new visa, and while that application is pending the rapper should not be subject to detainment.

Alex Spiro, the New York attorney who at one time represented rap mogul Jay-Z, has taken on Abraham-Joseph’s case at his famous client’s request this week.

‘The arrest and detention of 21 Savage is an absolute travesty, his U visa petition has been pending for 4 years,’ Jay-Z posted on Facebook.

The U visa is for victims of crimes who have faced mental or physical abuse. His team earlier had said it was filed due to his experience as a ‘victim of a deadly shooting in 2013.’

ICE has said the artist was convicted of felony drug charges in October 2014, but Spiro said it was a marijuana conviction that was vacated.

The rapper’s legal team said earlier that he arrived in the US at age seven, staying there continually for almost 20 years except for a brief trip to Britain in 2005.

Abraham-Joseph has three children who are American citizens, which his lawyers say make him eligible for deportation relief.

‘In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately,’ Jay-Z said.
