13 feared dead as private jet carrying boxing fans home from Canelo v Jacobs bout in Las Vegas vanishes from radar

MYSTERY surrounds what happened to a private jet flying boxing fans home to Mexico who had reportedly been watching middleweight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez thrash his opponent Daniel Jacobs.   

The private Bombardier Challenger 601 plane went missing during a flight over the municipality of Monclova in the Mexican state of Coahuil on Sunday after flying over a mountainous area.

It almost completed its flight from Las Vegas to the city of Monterrey.

All 13 aboard are said to be Mexican nationals.

The pilot's last contact with the Monterrey Area Control Cene was when the crew was flying over Minas de Hércules.

A Radio Centro correspondent reported: "The Secretariat of Public Security of Coahuila and authorities of Nuevo Leon have begun searches for the private Jet Bombardier Challenger 601 plane, registration N601VH, that flew from Las Vegas to Monterrey, with which contact was lost on Sunday afternoon.”

According to a specialist, the aircraft apparently suffered a sharp decline at 40,000 feet high and subsequently the contact was lost.

Weather conditions were said to be went and windy.

Alvarez added a third middleweight belt to his collection Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena by defeating Brooklyn’s Daniel Jacobs by judges’ scores of 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112.
