Why Jillian Michaels and Andy Cohen Can't Stand Each Other

From workout tapes to The Biggest Loser, we’ve watched Jillian Michaels teach us her diet and workout habits for a hard-bodied physique over the years. While she’s been known as an advocate for healthy lifestyles, fans also know her for her no-nonsense personality — and she’s never afraid to spill what’s really on her mind. As of late, it seems Jillian Michaels has an issue with Bravo TV host Andy Cohen. And it’s not the first time she’s called him out, either.

So, what’s the issue between them and why are they lashing out at each other once again? Here’s what we know.

The feud between Cohen and Michaels has proved to be longstanding, but more recently, Michaels has talked extensively about her first awful meeting with Cohen. As the fitness guru tells Us Weekly, “We’ve not been friendly for years.” She explained that when went on his show, Watch What Happens Live, Cohen acted “condescending and unprofessional” even though she assumed that when they met they would be “gay homies.”

Michaels mentioned one particular incident that really seems to grind her gears. She explained to the publication that after fighting the stomach flu and doing press all day, Cohen brought out a shotski (several shot glasses that are attached to a downhill ski). He allegedly explained it to her in a very condescending way before the show started, and once the show ended, she told him, “I gotta tell you, that was a truly hideous experience. Like in all the years I’ve been doing this, nothing like this has ever happened.”

Cohen and Michaels went at each other over the keto diet

As for what would prompt Michaels to step out and denounce Cohen more recently, it seems a feud regarding the keto diet is to blame. People explains Michaels spoke in a video for Women’s Health regarding the dangers of the popular fad diet. The diet involves a low carb, high protein, high fat eating plan to help folks lose weight fast, but according to Michaels, it’s not sustainable or healthy. As she said, “You don’t eat processed sugar, you don’t eat processed grains, and to make a very long story short: avoid the keto diet. Common sense. Balanced diet is key.”

Unfortunately, Cohen had something to say about Michaels’ stance. On Watch What Happens Live, Cohen publicly called her a “jackhole.” And it seems Today weatherman Al Roker also got into the mix, as Us Weekly notes he tweeted, “This from a woman who promoted on camera bullying , deprivation, manipulation and more weekly in the name of weight loss. Now those sound like bad ideas.”

They’ve also fought over the Real Housewives franchise

Michaels seemed upset with what Roker said of her, as she explained that she’d done segments with him on air for years. As for Cohen, she’s not surprised at all of his reaction to her keto talk. We remember their previous feud that revolved around the Real Housewives franchise, too. Michaels told Life & Style, “I hate watching women tear each other apart. Anybody who watches it, shame on you. It’s like [the franchise] was created by someone that hates women!”

Cohen clapped back at Michaels to The Hollywood Reporter, however. As he said, “I love women. Housewives is a show about women and it’s predominately for women … It’s a show about friendship. It’s a show about being a wife. It’s a show about being a mother. It’s a show about being a sister.” He also added, “I think [Michaels] probably never watched it. … By the ways, this is the woman who screamed at people for a living on The Biggest Loser. She should stay in her own lane.”

From the looks of it, it seems neither celebrity is willing to make amends. It’s likely we’ll see more epic feuds from them in the future.
