What is Tidying up with Marie Kondo on Netflix about and when is the release date and will it be renewed for a second season?

The show has already got audiences hooked – so what’s it all about? Let’s take a closer look.

Who is Marie Kondo?

Marie Kondo is a Japanese organisational consultant and author.

Born in Tokyo on October 9, 1984, Marie is world-famous for her love of tidying.

She has written four books on organising, with her 2011 offering ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing’ published in more than 30 countries.

Marie was listed as one of Time magazine’s “100 most influential people” in 2015.

She claims she has loved tidying up since she was a schoolgirl.

She is married to Takumi Kawahara and they have two children together.

What is the KonMari method?

Marie’s method of organising is known as the KonMari method.

It is based on the idea of gathering together all of your belongings, one category at a time, and then keeping only those things that "spark joy".

Each item you chose to keep then gets a designated spot in the home or office.

What is ‘Tidying Up with Marie Kondo’ about?

At the beginning on January 2019, Netflix launched a new series called “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo”.

The series sees Marie visit Americans in their homes, and guides them in tidying using her KonMari methods.

The eight-episode series sees participants de-cluttering their bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and garages.

Marie also forced them to examine their sentimental items to see what really needs to be held onto.

Will there be a second series?

At the moment, it remains uncertain if there will be a second series of the show.

However, it will be likely to return if it proves to be popular enough.
