'Vanderpump Rules' Recap: Brittany Reveals in Couples Therapy She Still Has Trust Issues with Jax

“This is the first I’m hearing about this, to be honest,” Jax fires back.

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are months away from saying "I do," but that doesn’t mean everything’s all rainbows and butterflies for the "Vanderpump Rules" couple.

During a couples therapy session that was documented on Monday’s new episode of the Bravo series, Brittany expressed to their therapist, Lindsey, that she still had some trust issues with Jax after he cheated on her last year.

The topic came up when Brittany was gushing over how excited she was for her family to fly in from Kentucky to attend their bridal shower. "My mom and my mamaw love him. He can’t do no wrong in their eyes," she explained. "But I’m excited for Jax and my dad to talk, too."

Jax’s head nearly spun off his neck. "Talk about what?" he asked as he glared at his fiancée.

Brittany explained to Lindsey she and Jax "used to fight a lot" and that her family witnessed much of it when they spent a summer in Kentucky. She also said her dad "had a hard time" with Brittany taking Jax back after he slept with someone else.

"But I really want him to see how good we’re doing now," Brittany said. "That’s really, really, really important for me."

Jax, still a bit shocked and confused, said, "I mean I think for the most part, we’re good?"

Brittany then brought up how she’d like Jax to work on his "defensiveness." For example, whenever he loses his car keys (which apparently happens every day), he angrily yells about it.

"I just need someone to yell at," he said, adding that he knows it’s never Brittany’s fault. "She just so happens to be in the way." He also said he considers himself a work in progress.

"For me, it’s like, I know he’s done so much and he has changed so much and I do trust him again, but there’s still like a little bit of me that doesn’t trust him," Brittany revealed reluctantly. "I catch myself, like, if he’s an hour later than he’s supposed to be, being like, ‘Where is he? What is he doing?’ And I shouldn’t. I don’t want to do that."

As Lindsey began to reply to Brittany’s comment, Jax snappily interrupted, "This is the first I’m hearing about this, to be honest."

"Is it hard for you that she’s still working on trust stuff?" Lindsey asked.

"Yeah," Jax said with a heavy sigh. "It is very stressful."

"Since we’re gonna get married and stuff, I don’t want to have those what ifs," Brittany said.

Lindsey explained that any time there’s cheating in a relationship, the cheater needs to be transparent about why they stepped outside of the relationship.

Jax shrugged and said, "Yeah, but I think it made us stronger, if anything. I mean, it definitely made her stronger, 100 percent. She doesn’t get bullied around by anyone anymore. But not just that situation, I think it made her stronger for other things. I think it made her stronger for how she approaches situations. She doesn’t get pushed around."

"She’s just so sweet," he continued. "She will give everybody a chance. Everybody. It doesn’t matter if that person killed somebody, she’s gonna give you a chance."

Brittany giggled in agreement as Lindsey sat pensive.

"Vanderpump Rules" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
