Timon and Pumbaa are here to lighten the mood as The Lion King trailer drops

Jon Favreau has shared a new trailer for his upcoming live action version of The Lion King and yes, it looks like Timon and Pumbaa are going to remain our favourite Disney characters ever.

The pair get a brief moment in the trailer which focuses on the rivalry between Scar, Mufasa and Simba but it’s the end of the clip where we see them in their natural habitat, walking with a very cheesy swagger and singing along to the The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Elsewhere though, we see the stunning visual effects and work that has gone into the film, which will be feature photorealistic computer animation.

Apart from the all-star cast – Donald Glover, Seth Rogen and actual Beyonce – not much else is known about the remake.

However Donald, who voices Simba, revealed being part of the Disney gang was ‘probably the safest thing, just because everybody who’s involved is a fan, and everybody who is involved knows it really well’.

Who doesn’t know all of the Lion King soundtrack – and every single harmony – off by heart?

But the Community actor revealed there was one part of filming that he was finding a little intimidating.

Nope, not taking on probably one of the most iconic cartoon characters in the history of the world, but working with Beyonce – who plays Nala.

‘We started recording some stuff and it’s, you know, it’s a little intimidating. [At least] from my point of view,’ he added to ET Online.

The Lion King is out in cinemas on 19 July, 2019.
