'The Bachelorette': Fans Hated The Recap Episode

Last night’s episode of The Bachelorette was filled with drama. Well, half of it was filled with drama. The other half was just Chris Harrison asking Hannah Brown about her favorite moments from her season so far. Don’t get us wrong, some of the moments–the never-before-seen footage mostly–were cute and funny (shout out to Marcus), but everyone watching along at home still would have rathered that content just be included in After The Final Rose or Men Tell All.

‘Bachelorette’ fans thought the recap was a waste of time

Fans took to social media to let ABC know that they hated The Bachelorette recap episode.

“why is the bachelorette recapping the beginning of the episode like i remember what happened im not a goldfish,” tweeted one fan.

Some fans are calling the recap the worst episode in Bachelorette history.

“This is by far the worst show in bachelorette history!! Really a recap after 6 episodes, lame!”

“In the four years I’ve been watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette I can confidently say that this is the worst episode I’ve ever seen,” wrote one fan.

Bachelor Nation really wants the producers to know that they messed up big time with last night’s episode.

“Just an FYI to the producers of the Bachelor/Bachelorette, if you haven’t already figured it out we HATE this recap nonsense. Don’t ever do it again!” tweeted another upset fan.

“Raise your hand if you feel personally victimized by the Bachelorette producers,” wrote another fan.

“This recap is the BIGGEST waste of time in bachelorette history,” tweeted another.

Why did ‘The Bachelorette’ do a recap episode?

The recap episode was by no means necessary for viewers. We’ve been watching along all season, we don’t need a recap of what’s happened so far. The Bachelorette isn’t Game of Thrones. So why did ABC fill half of last night’s episode with, well, filler?

The folks at The Bachelorette definitely tried to make us think that it was because Hannah was close to quitting. Just like Colton Underwood needed to be talked into returning to the show to finish out his season, last night’s conversations with Chris were supposed to mirror those moments with Colton. Hannah is frustrated with her men, but we don’t actually think she’s going to pack her bags and head home.

When The Bachelor/ette first began airing, the big question was, “Who will receive the final rose?” As the seasons progressed, the question, “Will the star get married?” was added to the equation. After Colton’s season, producers are trying to add “Will the star quit the show?” to the list of big questions.

You can tell they’re really trying to play up the will she, won’t she quit bit right now in Hannah’s season.

The other reason last night’s recap episode might have happened is that the producers and editors are focusing so hard on the Luke P. storyline. They’re trying to tell one particular narrative and if they run out of footage that fits with that narrative then they need to add in some filler here in there.

Whatever the reason, fans have made it clear that they weren’t happy about it. So The Bachelorette probably won’t be airing another recap episode any time soon.
