Strictly Come Dancing 2019: ‘You hate all the dancers’ Former star drops shock bombshell

Sunday Brunch host Simon Rimmer opened up about how he felt when the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing started last year.

He told former contestant Joe Sugg, who was appearing on the show with girlfriend Dianne Buswell, he’d “hate” the professionals when they meet their new partners.

Simon began: “Can I warn you something that will happen this year. It might be different with Di because what will happen is, that when the next group come in.”

“Oh yeah, I know what you’re about to say,” Joe chipped in.

Simon continued: “You then hate all the dancers because then you realise it’s like a holiday romance.

“You think you’re special – your situation is different – but everyone else who is in your year thinks ‘I thought I was special.

“I thought the little in jokes were just for me.’”

Joe laughed: “It’s like when the year sevens come up and they get all the fun stuff to do and all those cool trips.”

Dianne added: “A new WhatsApp group will be formed,” before insisting she and Joe “will be alright”.

Speaking about how he decided to swap YouTube for the dancefloor, Joe explained: “I always loved TV and it was a big decision to make.

“I was terrified. And yeah, I just gave it a go and fell in love with the show.”

He added: “Day one, you start and it’s like you never want it to end.”

This year’s celebrity line-up is expected to be announced in a matter of weeks and bookmakers revealing the odds of Peter Crouch signing up to the series have been slashed.

The 38-year-old former pro footballer is now 2/1 to take to the dance floor following in the footsteps of his wife Abbey Clancy.

Abbey waltzed to victory in 2013 with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec.

“We know he’s got the moves and with one Strictly winner already in the Crouch household,” Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said.

“We wouldn’t be surprised to see the man who brought the robot to the football pitch take to the dance floor this Autumn.”

Fans of the BBC series are still waiting to find out who will be replacing judge Darcey Bussell, who stepped down from the role earlier this year.

Currently rumoured to be taking over are former contestants Bonnie Langford and Harry Judd.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
