Peter Andre defends Michael Jackson following new sex abuse claims

The singer has spoken out about the late singer in light of a new documentary, which includes two alleged victims and reminded fans that he was acquitted of wrongdoing in 2005.

Writing in his new! Magazine column, Peter argued: "There's a new Michael Jackson documentary on this week and it has caused a lot of controversy about sexual abuse.

"First and foremost what I will say is we have to rely on the justice system and we mustn't forget that he was acquitted of not just one, but all child molestation charges during his trial in 2005."

While he said it would be “absolutely terrible” if Michael was found guilty, he continued that his music should not be banned.

He wrote: "You can't just stop listening to an artist's music due to accusations alone.

"And let's not forget some of his songs weren't even written by him.”

Offering sympathy to Michael’s family, he added that the singer was no longer there to defend himself.

The new documentary, Leaving Neverland,  contains interviews with two former childhood fans of the Thriller singer who claim they were abused by him when they were children in his enormous California mansion dubbed Neverland.

The documentary details fresh abuse claims from Wade Robson, a choreographer who says Jackson began abusing him when he was 7, and James Safechuck, a former child actor who says the singer began molesting him when he was 10.

It airs on Channel 4 on Wednesday and Thursday.
