Miley Cyrus attends Isn't It Romantic premiere for husband Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth may be recovering from his recent hospital visit, but that didn’t stop Miley Cyrus from showing her support at his upcoming film premiere.

Hemsworth, 29, who skipped out on the Grammys yesterday after he was hospitalized over the weekend, had his new wife attend his Isn’t It Romantic premiere on his behalf while he stayed home to recover from kidney stones, PEOPLE confirms.

A source close to the star told PEOPLE that although Hemsworth “was briefly hospitalized,” he is now “at home resting and will be fine.”

In his absence, Cyrus, 26, showed up to the Los Angeles premiere on Monday wearing a dramatic, sheer, red Maison Valentino design and a matching lip color, with her hair pulled into a high ponytail.

After she walked the carpet solo, the actress explained on her social media accounts that her husband was not in attendance because it was “crucial” that he focused on his health right now.

“So proud of my hunky hubby @liamhemsworth & his newest movie #IsntItRomantic ❤️” she wrote. “He unfortunately wasn’t able to attend due to health reasons… but he is recovering and taking this time to rest / heal.”

“It’s hard for entertainers to put themselves before the project but this time it was crucial …. I am proud to represent him and his incredible work,” she added. “So happy to see him shining in this comedy! He is the funniest person I know , and the world now gets to see the Liam I wake up to every day…. luckiest ?”

In a separate Instagram post, Cyrus, who was posed in front of a photo of Hemsworth playing saxophone, left a flirty message for her new hubby.

“Getting sick blows. But so do I. Get well soon babe. I love you,” she wrote. “Play that sax you sexy f—. ❤️?❤️?❤️?❤️?❤️?❤️”

The “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” singer also joked that while she was there to support Hemsworth, she “also did it for @maisonvalentino.”

Hemsworth issued a statement on his Instagram after the premiere, as well, where he apologized for missing the event and gave a sweet shout out to his wife for attending on his behalf.

Along with the message, he shared several photos of Cyrus, including one of her alongside his Isn’t It Romantic costar Rebel Wilson.

“Sorry I couldn’t make it to the @isntitromantic premier tonight guys. Been dealing with some pretty annoying health stuff the last couple days,” he explained.

“Lucky I have the best girl in the world to represent for me! Thanks for the support babe!” he added. “I hope everyone enjoys the movie! It’s a perfect Valentine’s Day flick so if ya ain’t got nothin better to do then go see it! Love to all!”

News of Hemsworth’s whereabouts came after the actor was noticeably missing from his Isn’t It Romantic press day on Sunday and Wilson revealed to Extra that he was in the hospital.

“[Liam] was in hospital overnight, so hopefully he will be fine,” Wilson said, adding, “He texted us this morning.”

A rep for Warner Brothers told PEOPLE that Hemsworth woke up, was not feeling well and had to miss the event.

Cyrus then went to Grammys without her husband later that day and was joined by her parents Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus.

The singer performed a surprise duet with Shawn Mendes for his hit single “In My Blood” before joining godmother Dolly Parton onstage to perform “Jolene.”

Hemsworth and Cyrus said “I do” in an intimate, secret ceremony at her home in Franklin, Tennessee, on Dec. 23, 2018. She wore an off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood gown while Hemsworth wore a traditional black tux.

Isn’t It Romantic, costarring Priyanka Chopra and Adam DeVine, hits theaters on Wednesday.
