Meghan Markle: ‘It’s really weird’ Nick Knowles hits out at fans over royal baby criticism

Christine Lampard, who was presenting ITV chat show Lorraine today, was chatting to Nick about spending 20 years on DIY SOS when she joked the royals could call on him to build a nursery.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly just moved into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor and are preparing to welcome their first child.

Teasing Nick about how she could assist the couple, Christine commented: “Well you know Harry and Meghan need a nursery built.”

Nick replied hitting out at those keen to know every detail about the royal baby: “Do you know what, I think everyone has been really harsh.

“Just leave them alone. They’re like first baby coming along, give them some space.

“Isn’t it a weird thing how people want to tell other people how to have their babies and what to do?

“It’s a really weird thing isn’t it.”

Christine remarked: “It happens that way. I suppose because of who they are as well it’s like we sort of own them a bit don’t we, in our eyes?”

“Yeah but he’s next in line for throne is he?” Nick hit back.

“I mean with William there is a certain amount of that. But with them I think they’re finding their way and they’re trying to do things in a more modern way.

“Just leave them to, leave them to get on with it,” the DIY SOS star continued.

He went on to reveal both he and his ex-wife Jessica Rose Moor had been criticised when they welcomed their son Eddie.

“When my little Eddie, when he came along, and my ex was going in to talk about how she wanted to have the baby, and she wanted to have her friend who’d had her baby in the same way as my little boy,” Nick began.

“When we had him and decided that I actually wouldn’t be at the birth.

“Oh my gosh there was this huge, everyone telling us we hated our children and had no proper relationship.

“Everybody wants to tell you how to go about having your baby. It’s like just leave people to have their own decisions.”

It comes after Rochelle Humes was “told off” by royal editor Camilla Tominey for speculating about the royal baby on This Morning.

Rochelle said: “So we were talking about this in the green room earlier. We’ve got a little theory, that she’s had the baby already.”

Camilla hit back: “No, that’s silly,” prompting Rochelle to giggle: “Oh, she’s telling us off!”

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 8.30am.
