Love Island producers break silence on viral Instagram DMs after Sherif and Anton ‘fight’

Viewers of the hit ITV2 reality dating series were stunned to hear that one of their favourite contestants had left the show on Tuesday.

Love Island’s Sherif Lanre exited the villa after admitting that he had failed to adhere to the rules put in place by the producers.

Though news of his pulling-out was confirmed, the reason behind his departure was a little more mysterious.

Screenshots of Instagram DM’s allegedly from Sherif’s verified account did the rounds on social media once news broke, implying that the 20-year-old was booted off the show after engaging in a scrap.

The messages suggested that the chef had got into a tussle with fellow contestant Anton Danyluk, as the two fought over brunette bombshell Anna Vakili.

They read: “Anton happened. Purposely moving onto Anna while I’m right next to him trying to touch her leg.”

Before continuing: “Asked him for a chat in private because I wanted to confront him and it got heated and security had to split us up, heartbroken but s*** happens man.”

Though many believed that the Insta conversation was legitimate, sources from ITV2 have reportedly insisted that they are fake.

According to the Mail Online, a spokeswoman said: “We have checked and these messages have not come from Sherif.”

The channel continues to remain tight-lipped over the real reason behind his premature exit, simply explaining that he had broken “the villa rules”.

Their statement read: “After breaking the villa rules, Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”

Sherif released a statement of his own, admitting that: “I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20-year-old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.”

Before adding: “I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”

All things considered, it leaves the question – which rules did Sherif actually break?

Among the most important rules that contestants must adhere to, there is a ban on smoking cigarettes in the house or garden area.

On top of that, it is not allowed for a contestant to be nude in front of a fellow contestant, to masturbate, or to engage in drunken or unsafe sex.

Apparently, if contestants do decide to get down to business beneath the sheets, a condom must be worn.

Once the deed is done, they apparently have to speak to a therapist, who can also provide emergency contraception.

Rule books were reportedly issued to each Islander, outlining the strict regulations in place for their safety.

On social media, viewers have gone into overdrive speculating over which of the rules Sherif could have broken.

But, as it stands, ITV2 are refusing to spill the beans on the details of his abrupt departure.
