Kim Kardashian explains how her bizarre basin-less sinks work – and reveals mansion's other gimmicks

KIM Kardashian has explained how her bizarre basin-less sinks work after her and Kanye West's Californian mansion left fans baffled.

The 37-year-old star also shared some of her home's other gimmicks – including unique light switches and a massive TV that comes out of the bedroom floor.

Last week, Kim allowed Vogue to film inside her "minimal monastery" house as part of their 73 Questions video series, but fans were more distracted by the star's bathroom than any of her answers.

Noticing the social media frenzy, Kim took to her Instagram Story last night.

The soon-to-be mother-of-four explained: "OK, so since everyone is a little bit confused about our sinks, I thought I would show you a little tour of our bathroom.

"So the sink, Kanye drew this. Kanye, Axel Vervoordt, and Claudio Silvestrin. Claudio was the one who said it should be separated from the wall because it used to be up against the wall but we thought it'd be cooler this way.

"Eight versions of this prototype sink were made and it does actually slightly slope down, and you can see there's a slit for the water and it goes in.

"You can put it as high pressure as you want and no back-splash will come up."

She zoomed in on the sink, revealing the hole that drains the water and the sink's sloping design that allows the water to trickle down.

Kim also revealed that the entire bathroom ceiling is a light box, adding that her tub is big enough to fit all of her children at once.

Later in her Story, the KUWTK star showed off her and Kanye's quirky light switches as she explained: "Something else I think is interesting is our light switches, there's just three little buttons and they go on, dim, and off.

"There's no box around it, which I think is really cool and more visually appealing."

She then proved that her home isn't quite as minimalist as it initially appears to be, revealing a huge TV screen that raises up from the bedroom floor at the press of a button.

Kim shared: "I'm in my bedroom and I wanted to show you something cool.

"My TV in my bedroom is pretty cool, 130 inches for the bed and it comes up and down, looks like the floor – you can stand on it."

The Hidden Hills mansion was designed by Axel Vervoordt with Kanye's guidance and took several years to complete.

The home is largely kept off Kim's family reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, with Vogue getting the first proper glimpse.

In the video, Kim was joined by Kanye as well as their three children, five-year-old North, three-year-old Saint, and one-year-old Chicago.

Kim and Kanye's fourth child is due via surrogate in the coming weeks.
