Kelsey Grammar: Netflix is likely home for possible Frasier revival

Kelsey Grammer already knows where he’d like to see a Frasier revival end up, in the event that he manages to reunite the Crane brothers and the women who love them.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Jim Norton & Sam Roberts show Thursday, Grammer said Netflix would be the obvious home — especially since reruns of the NBC comedy continue to attract viewers on the platform.

“’Cause they’ve got it,” Grammer said of Netflix. “You know, Frasier is still, is in like the top 10 on Netflix, in and out, and you just think, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ And so it’s likely that that’s kind of where its new home would be.”

While appearing on The Late Late Show Monday, Grammer told James Corden that he’s already meeting with the writers to get the project going.

“The first principle is that it is a different story, basically,” he said. “Same group of characters, but in a different setting. Something has changed in their lives. Certainly John Mahoney died over a year ago, and we would probably deal with that a little bit, with Dad being gone.”

He went on to explain that the revival would be “the third act of Frasier rather than trying to pick it up, like Will & Grace did, right where they were.

“We’re just exploring what that might be,” he continued. “It could be [set] in Chicago — he left for Chicago before, in the last episode of Frasier — and there seems to be some appetite for it.”

Jim Norton & Sam Roberts airs weekdays on SiriusXM’s Faction Talk channel 103.
