Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’ To Make World Premiere At SXSW As Opening Night Movie

Jordan Peele’s next horror thriller Us is making its world premiere at South by Southwest in Austin, TX on Friday March 8 as the fest’s opening night movie.

Last year, Paramount launched A Quiet Place at SXSW to great fanfare and generating heat that ultimately fueled its way to $340.6M at the global box office and a number of nominations this awards season.

Us, which Peele also wrote, will be released by Universal Pictures on Friday, March 15, 2019. When it came to his feature 2017 directorial debut Get Out, Peele debuted the pic at Sundance as their secret screening. That movie went on to deliver Peele an original screenplay Oscar win as well as $255.4M at the WW box office.

“We are crazy excited to world premiere the most anticipated film of 2019 from the creative powerhouse that brought us Get Out,” said Janet Pierson, Director of Film. “We honestly couldn’t imagine a more perfect film to kick off the 2019 SXSW Film Festival.”
