Jeremy Kyle latest: What has happened on Jeremy Kyle? Why has the show been cancelled?

The Jeremy Kyle show has been cancelled indefinitely following the death of one of its guests. The show said filming and broadcasts of the show have been halted “with immediate effect”. There is no word as to when the show would be back on air.

Why has the Jeremy Kyle Show been cancelled?

A spokesman for the channel said: “Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show a week after the recording of the episode they featured in and our thoughts are with their family and friends.

“ITV will not screen the episode in which they featured.

“Given the seriousness of this event, ITV has also decided to suspend both filming and broadcasting of The Jeremy Kyle Show with immediate effect in order to give it time to conduct a review of this episode of the show.”

Monday morning’s edition of the show was pulled off the air and replaced with an episode of Dickinson’s Real Deal.

The episode featuring the guest who died will be submitted for review.

ITV has not revealed any further information about the death of the guest.

The series’ presence has been lifted from TV, including evening reruns and editions of the show on catch-up ITV Hub.

Former X Factor contestant Christopher Maloney told The Mirror the Jeremy Kyle celebrity specials would not air either.

He said: “It’s [a] temporary [suspension]. It will be aired at a later date. I haven’t been told the new TX date.”

Many viewers were left frustrated the show had been cancelled, but most were sympathetic.

One viewer said via Twitter: “Taken today of at work to watch #jeremykyleshow not the #realdeal @ITVJeremyKyle @ITV.”

Another said: “Sad day indeed. Thoughts with the family of the person that has died.

“Thinking of all our lovely #JeremyKyle staff.”

Another viewer said: “I think by the sounds of it there is going to be an investigation into the episode in which the guest who died was to be featured on.

“Sounds to me as though the outcome of that will determine whether the show will continue. #jeremykyle.”

The Jeremy Kyle Show normally airs weekdays at 9.30am on ITV.
