Emmerdale spoilers: Charity Dingle 'knocked for six' by mystery phone call as she rows with drunk fiancee Vanessa Woodfield

The pub landlady is in the middle of a rant with her drunk fiancee Vanessa Woodfield, when her mobile rings.

Charity takes the call but what she hears leaves her knocked for six. What could it be?

Poor Charity’s had a tough 12 months what with finally opening up to Vanessa about her past as a teenage prostitute.

Fans of the ITV soap were horrified as Charity – played by Emma Atkins – confessed she’d been kidnapped and held prisoner by a police officer called Bails, who she trusted.

She went on to reveal that Bails had used her as a sex slave for months, even letting his corrupt police mates abuse her as well.

Charity broke viewers hearts as she said she’d fallen pregnant and had given birth to a baby boy who died shortly after he was born.

But Vanessa – along with some help from Harriet Finch – discovered that the baby hadn’t actually died, but had been adopted by the midwife who delivered him.

Charity finally got to meet the son she’d been secretly grieving for for almost 30 years when Ryan Stocks agreed to see her.

She also saw her father – Obadiah – for the first time since she was a teenager and discovered that her mum, Kathleen, hadn’t died from cancer as she’d been lead to believe, but had actually taken her own life.
