Eastenders spoilers: Hunter Owen will return to soap after murdering stepdad Ray Kelly

EASTENDERS' troubled teen Hunter Owen will return to the soap after murdering Ray Kelly in scenes set to be aired this spring.

Hunter, played by 23-year-old Charlie Winter, appears to be ruffling a few feathers among the Walford residents in a trailer that was released by show bosses yesterday.

The teen can be seen looking at himself in the mirror as he clutches a gun, before the clip cuts to his mum Mel Owen (Tamsin Outhwaite) who is attempting to defend her son in the Queen Vic pub.

"You've got no right, any of you, to judge Hunter. He's better than all of you!" Mel says.

But Keegan Baker replies: "Hunter's a psychopath and we all know it. And so do you."

Mel and Hunter were responsible for killing and burying Ray Kelly in dramatic scenes over New Year and things took a dramatic turn last month when Jack Branning double crossed the pair, resulting in Hunter getting arrested for the murder.

Hunter later confessed that Ray’s death was all down to him and had nothing to do with Mel, but she promised him that she would get some money and hire the best lawyer possible to get him released.

Although viewers won't have to wait long to find out Hunter's fate as Charlie Winter was axed from the soap in January.

A source told The Daily Star Sunday: "It’s been decided that it’s the end of the road for Hunter. Producers don’t feel there is anywhere else for the character to go."

Meanwhile, EastEnders fans were left excited as the clip also revealed Sean Slater, Lola Pearce and Ben Mitchell's returns.

With Phil Mitchell's gangster enemies arriving in Albert Square following a money laundering scheme gone wrong, it seems the soap bad boy and his family pull in their resources to help out in the shape of Ben Mitchell- now played by Max Boden- and Lola Pearce, Danielle Harold.

From the clip it appears that the pair's shock arrival is met with a mixed reception and as it goes on it's clear that they are hiding a secret behind their intentions for the visit.

And another shocking return seems to ruffle a few feathers in the Slater household as Sean Slater- played by Robert Kazinsky- makes an appearance for the first time since 2009 after finding out about Jean Slater's cancer diagnosis.

Following the release of the clip on social media fans immediately began sharing their excitement for the upcoming soap scenes.

One wrote: "I think we could be getting EastEnders back to its best!!"

Another commented: "Sean, Ben, Jean and Ruby. So happy to see my favs in the trailer. Exciting  #Eastenders"

A third wrote: "Kate Oates first 2 minute over trailer and it is more than awesomely epic! This is the best EastEnders trailer I've actually seen since I started watching it! So many returns and new characters to make it all go booooom!"
