Corrie reveals Peter Barlow exit after Carla Connor breakdown

As Carla Connor (Alison King) recovers from her upcoming breakdown in a mental health focused episode this week in Coronation Street, Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and his son Simon (Alex Bain) both make big decisions as they prepare to leave Weatherfield to support her.

As Carla starts to believe she is seeing dead friends and relatives like Aidan Connor, Hayley Cropper and Rana Habeeb – who she is blamed for killing – her psychosis exacerbates and Peter is frantic as she scales the stairwell on Victoria Street in attempt to speak with ‘Hayley’.

Thankfully, despite her life being on the line, Carla eventually ends up in hospital, with Peter by her side as always and new pictures revealed by ITV have confirmed that a shocking decision follows. After a visit to Carla, Peter says his goodbyes to Ken (William Roache) and after an emotional conversation, Simon decides that he is going with his dad.

But why are they leaving, where are they going and will they back? Will Peter abandon Carla in her time of need – or is the journey ahead all in aid of helping her as she is treated elsewhere?

It remains to be seen what happens next but captions teased: ‘Peter visits a fragile Carla in hospital, is there anything to do to help her? Later, Peter packs his bags and says goodbye to Ken. But he’s not going alone, Peter is happy to hear Simon will be coming with him…’

The rest of the storyline remains under wraps but stay tuned all this week on the hompage of Metro Soaps for more details on the week that follows Carla’s darkest day. More details will be revealed from 00:01 on Tuesday 28th May.

Meanwhile, Carla’s special episode will air on Friday 31st May on ITV at 9pm between the Britain’s Got Talent episodes.
