Coronation Street's Sally Metcalfe mocked for 'carrying too much Christmas weight' by Richard Arnold after dramatic fall through roof in factory collapse

RICHARD Arnold mocked Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor for "carrying too much Christmas weight" after her Weatherfield character Sally Metcalfe fell through the roof in last night's dramatic factory collapse.

The TV presenter was in Manchester to chat to the cast for Good Morning Britain earlier today, and he had Sally and her co-stars in hysterics with the quick-witted jibe.

Discussing Sally's shock fall, 49-year-old Richard said to the actress: "You were the one who took the plunge.

"You're quite light on your feet, I had no idea you were carrying so much Christmas weight – you went through the roof like that!"

Sally laughed as she agreed: "I did, didn't I? Just one step back and that was it."

Corrie fans were left fearing for Sally's life during last night's tense episode, with the soap veteran refusing to take sister Gina's hand before tumbling through the roof of the factory and the remainder of the building's ceiling falling on top of her.

Sally was on the roof with the protesting Underworld workers.

The group decided to occupy the factory to protest their boss Carla choosing to outsource knicker production to keep costs down.

But the peaceful protest soon took a nasty turn when Sally and Gina had a furious argument as months of tension came spilling out.

A "shadowy figure" was spotted at the scene by eagle-eyed viewers, who have speculated that either Gary or Robert are behind the accident.

However, it was previously revealed that Nick will be questioned by police, with Richard also catching up with actor Ben Price, who plays the growing villain, earlier today.

Richard asked: "Were you the shadowy figure? You robbed from your own granny! Is it an insurance claim?"

Ben coyly replied: "I might have done it, I might not" – encouraging fans to tune in as the gripping storyline unravels.
