Coronation Street special hour-long episode tonight sees Carla left terrified after mystery thug chucks a brick through her car window

CORONATION Street's Carla Connor is left fearing the worst after tonight's hour-long episode.

It's a near miss for the businesswoman – played by Alison King – as she narrowly avoids being harmed when a mystery thug throws a brick through her car window in Friday's episode of the ITV soap.

Although it is unknown who is behind the attack, Carla has made a string of enemies in recent weeks.

The owner of the factory, Underworld, has been planning to make changes to the business by outsourcing production, much to the upset of her staff who are worried they may lose their job or suffer a pay cut.

Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) – who co-owns the business – let slip Carla's plans to his colleagues.

But Carla comes under fire from her team because of the scheduled changes.

Carla's business partner also has a vendetta against the beauty, after he finds out she is plotting to out him from the company.

Over recent weeks Carla and ex-husband Peter-Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) have been at loggerheads, after she covered up for Roy Cropper (David Neilson) after he set the building on fire while sleepwalking.

The pair attempt to put their past behind them as Peter comforts Carla after her nightmare day, but things backfire when she blames him for the feud with Nick.

After facing all the issues in one day, another spanner is thrown in the works when Carla returns to her car to find the window smashed in.

Carla's former flame Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) can be seen leering in the shadows nearby, but it is unknown if he sabotaged Carla's vehicle.

The string of altercations Carla will face in this evening's episode lead up to the collapse of the Underworld.

Next week the roof of the company will collapse in a dramatic episode, but whether it was given a helping hand in caving in or a genuine structural flaw is questioned after tonight's programme.

In recent weeks Carla has made it known she has had issues with the building, as she previously roped in Gary Windass (Mikey North) to fix it.

But she turned down the offer to fix the ceiling as she thought the handyman was trying to con her out of money.

Coronation Street airs on ITV Mondays, wednesdays and Fridays.
