Coronation Street fans spot ‘hygiene blunder’ as Shona wears red nail varnish to work at Roy’s Rolls

Eagle-eyed viewers went on social media to call out Shona – played by actress Julia Goulding – for her perfect manicure.

The actress showed off her fancy manicure as she served up tea at Roy's Rolls.

Fans went on Manchester Evening News’s Facebook page to complain about her claws.

One said: "Ok, I know it’s not real life but why is Shona working in the cafe with nail varnish on?"

A second said:“I've always said about this, it wouldn't be allowed.”

A third fan shared a link to trading standard guidelines about food business staff and hygiene.

One particular section pointed out staff must not wear polish because “nail varnish may chip and tiny pieces end up in food, or on equipment, utensils and food wrappings”.

While a fourth said: “It's in case it peels off and goes into the food. In some establishments they don’t wear gloves."

Her red nails were arguably the least of her worries.

Corrie fans were worried Shona would die like Kylie and Tina now she’s engaged to ‘cursed’ David Platt.

Kylie was murdered by Shona's son Clayton, and it's feared Shona will now meet the same fate.

Viewers took to Twitter to speculate what will happen to Shona after David popped the question tonight.

Another said: "Oh my god, Shona!! David's cursed! Don't do it!!"
