Ant McPartlin removed from I’m A Celebrity WhatsApp chat over recovery fears

Phillip Schofield has revealed that Ant McPartlin is not part of this year’s I’m A Celebrity WhatsApp group chat.

The This Morning presenter usually has a group with Ant and co-host Dec Donnelly while they are out in Australia.

But this year it’s just Dec and Holly Willoughby in the chat while Ant "concentrates" on his recovery at home.

Phillip told Mirror Online that Ant’s famous pals are "letting him get well" and have not spoken to him about the series.

When asked if Ant had revealed his thoughts on this year’s show, he said: "I think Ant is concentrating on himself and so no we’re all letting him get well."

Ant might not be part of the jungle fun this year but Phillip has been getting all the gossip from Holly and Dec.

After some expected first day nerves, Holly has started messaging her This Morning co-host during the ad breaks and long VTs.

Revealing all, Phillip said: "It’s me, Dec and Holly. I started it when they went out. We had a couple of chats before that.

"I didn’t say anything the day of her first show, or the lead up to her first show, or during her first show as the last thing you want to do is be distracted.

"Both Ant and Dec and myself have also got a WhatsApp group for when they were out there. They’re very much like me. You can text or WhatsApp someone during a commercial break or long VT.

"It took Holly a day or two to settle in. I got the first WhatsApp from her on the group during a commercial break and though ‘that’s it, she’s comfortable’."

Phillip, who is acting as an ambassador the new Huawei StorySign app, has been tuning in every night to see his pal presenting in the jungle.

The celebrities have been caught out this year making secret signals to their friends and family at home, but Phillip admitted he doesn’t get up to that with Holly.

He said: "That’s not a game we play. You sometimes play that for younger members of the family. I’ll open the show and touch my nose. But no we haven’t got anything like that."
