Anne Hegerty almost FIRED from The Chase over C-bomb insult

Anne Hegerty has revealed that she was almost fired from The Chase last month over her use of social media.

The I’m A Celebrity star, 60, found herself in hot water after she took aim at a troll on Twitter.

The star was forced to take down a tweet by ITV after she labelled a troll who insulted Emily Atack a “c**t” in a fiery comeback.

During an appearance on Lorraine, Anne admitted that bosses were furious with her behaviour.

Speaking on Lorraine, she said: “I’ve been known to get in trouble for doing that [answering back on Twitter].

“I tweeted a tweet last month, it got 25,000 likes, before ITV ordered me to take it down and threatened me with suspension.

“So I took it down.”

“Sometimes you don’t always know what’s appropriate or what people will find appropriate or not.

She added: “Sometimes you don’t always know what’s appropriate or what people will find appropriate or not.”

Despite bosses not liking the tweet in question, Anne received over 25,000 likes after she came out in defence of her pal Emily.

Emily tweeted that she was thrilled about her new role, but a cruel troll responded underneath that the star wasn’t “pretty enough”.

Anne hit back, saying: “What  sad c**t you are, Steve”, to the amusement of her 118,000 followers.

Anne and Emily grew close during their time on I’m A Celebrity 2018, and the pair have remained friends since the show came to an end.

The Chase airs weeknights on ITV1.
