A New Version of 'A Star Is Born' Is Coming to Theaters This Week!!!

Thank God: Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s Oscars performance won’t be the last you’ll see of the co-stars and IRL best friends. An extended version of A Star Is Born is coming to theaters on March 1 (AKA this Friday), featuring 12 minutes of previously-unseen footage, Deadline reports. Entertainment Weekly adds that this edition will only be in theaters for one week.

The new scenes include three song performances that weren’t in the original version of the movie: Ally (Gaga) and Jackson Maine (Cooper) sing “Is That Alright?” during their wedding; Jack sings “Too Far Gone” in his studio; and the couple pens a new song called “Clover” together, per Deadline. The first two tunes are on the film’s original soundtrack, while the third is not.

A snippet of the “Clover” scene was revealed by EW, featuring the on-screen couple composing the song together on an empty stage. Ally sings, “It’s something we can both get over / Oh I still believe in love.” Jackson follows, “Time goes by / I’ll keep winning, keep losing until I die / Rain falls down / And I’ll catch every drop this time around,” according to the outlet.

The extra footage will also include extended performances of songs that originally appeared in ASIB, like Jackson’s “Black Eyes” (the opener) and “Alibi,” as well as Ally’s a cappella rendition of “Shallow” in the parking lot.

The film’s “revival” comes less than a week after Cooper and Gaga stole the show at the Oscars with a chilling performance of ASIB‘s signature duet, “Shallow,” which now holds an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The feature was also nominated for awards like Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor (Sam Elliott), but lost in those categories.

After her victory on Sunday night, Gaga thanked her co-star and director Cooper during her acceptance speech. “Bradley, there is not a single person on the planet that could have sung this song with me but you,” she said. “Thank you for believing in us.”

The singer also said of their performance on Instagram, “Nothing could be more special than sharing this moment at the Oscars with a true friend and artistic genius.”
