7 Casualty spoilers: Devastating news for Duffy and a new doctor in the ED

1. It’s the first day at Holby for new registrar Archie Hudson, who has transferred from a hospital in the north. It’s not long before her reputation catches up with her and she finds herself in trouble with Connie. Is Archie going to be able to settle in to her new role in the ED?

2. A busy day sees the ED staff dealing with a stroppy woman with an arm injury, a man who’s jumped out of a window and a married couple who’ve been involved in a house fire. The cause of the fire proves to be more complicated than it first looks.

3. Duffy finally gets a firm diagnosis and it isn’t good news. Determined to carry on as normal she goes straight to work and immediately finds herself in the middle of the usual stresses of life in the ED. She’s trying to hide how she feels, but Charlie spots that something is worrying her. Is the time finally right for Duffy to confide in him?

4. When a patient decides to complain to Archie about the treatment she gave her, we discover that Archie isn’t afraid to fight back!

5. Dylan is trialling a new treatment for infected wounds and at least one member of staff can’t deal with it at all. Jade, however, is fascinated. When a patient is reluctant to be a guinea pig for Dylan, Jade volunteers to try to persuade him.

6. Duffy is struggling to deal with her news and carry out her normal duties. Then she’s needed to help deliver a baby in a life-or-death emergency. Will she be able to cope with the pressure?

7. Archie’s first shift isn’t easy and she has to deal with cases that are difficult both medically and emotionally. But her over-confidence leads her to cut corners with one patient – with life-threatening results. Is Archie’s Holby career over before it’s properly begun?
