196 Love Island viewers complain to Ofcom after recoupling fallout

Almost 200 viewers have complained to Ofcom regarding the recoupling fall out that resulted in screaming matches and heartbreak from the entire villa.

On Wednesday night’s episode, the contestants ended up divided in two when the devastating Casa Amor split left two of the girls devastated.

In total, 196 complaints were filed on the scenes, with Ofcom yet to decide whether to investigate or not.

Amy Hart, who had been professing her love for Curtis Pritchard while away from him, was inconsolable when she discovered he had been considering leaving her for Jourdan Riane.

Fans even wanted her pulled out of the villa as she struggled to sleep, and her continued tears resulted in her telling the Beach Hut her ‘future was taken away from her’ by him.

Meanwhile, Amber Gill and Michael Griffiths started raging at each other as he labelled her ‘childish’ and ‘pathetic’ for getting angry when he decided to ditch her for newcomer Joanna Chimonides.

A Love Island spokesperson has discouraged viewers mocking villa members behaviours for fear of their health when they eventually return to reality.

They have also assured that the islanders have access at all times to onsite welfare to monitor their capabilities to remain in the villa.

In a statement, they added: ‘We would strongly discourage anyone from following social media commentary that labels Islanders in potentially defamatory or damaging ways, especially when they have no opportunity to respond.

‘Social media negativity is of course very distressing for their families to read, and we strive to protect them from this where we can.’

A detailed outline of their duty of care plan can be found here.

Love Island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2.
