10 huge spring spoilers for Corrie with death twists, shock exit and big return

The investigation into who brought that roof down and killed Rana will continue for some time (which may or may not be good news for you) and there are indications that the viewers will discover their identity long before the community. But it leads to the incarnation of the latest cobbles bad guy.

Iain teased: ‘What I have always liked about Corrie is the ability to have villains like Hillman and Phelan who come in and burn bright and also the more complicated, long range villain like Mike Baldwin – ruthless, self serving and looking out for number one.

‘We’re designing a character in that latter type who can stay long term as an antagonistic just messing up lives. ‘By going with this character on this journey – their intentions are good and they rapidly snowball. It will be a very slow burn.’

Gary loses everything

Gary has got himself into a right old mess with villain Rick and it’s not going to get much better for him. As he is forced to do the loan shark’s bidding, he finds himself ripping off and threatening innocent people and his conscience gets the better of him.

But when it comes to confessing to Sarah, he could lose her as well as his job and money. And Rick hasn’t finished with him yet either…

Meet the Baileys!

Led by Aggie, the cobbles’ newest clan are about to land. And with son James set to be involved in a footballer homophobia storyline, they will soon be in the midst of some heavy drama. But there’s plenty of warmth and humour to be had from them too says Iain.

He told us: ‘I am really excited to introduce this new family – the audience is going to love them! They’re funny, warm and will pull together through thick and thin in the storylines we’ve got lined up for them.’

Slavery horror

Seb is set to have a new interest in the form of nail bar worker Alina but when it transpires that she is living in a hovel and being used as a slave, Seb determines to crack the trafficking ring. But he will be horrified when he realises that Jan is involved.

‘This is one of the biggest hidden scandals in the UK today. Our research has shown us that in many towns and cities across Britain, people are being forced to work against their will, living in extreme poverty and in fear for their safety, all so ruthless criminal gangs can get rich at their expense.

Steve in danger

A normal fare for Steve is set to turn into a nightmare when the person he is transporting turns out to be an armed robber. With Steve inadvertently becoming a getaway driver, he is then left terrified when the criminal turns the knife on him.

Will he get out of this alive?

David cheats on Shona?

Newcomer Natalie may not be Nick’s favourite person in the world but she is set to strike up a friendship with David. And when her interests in him seem to go beyond that, could David’s engagement to Shona be at risk?

Cassie Bradley, who plays Natalie, told Metro.co.uk: ‘She actually gets along really well with David, he makes her laugh and they are a bit of a double act and David really likes her. What comes from that is this flicker of feelings – she hasn’t had great relationships in the past so her feelings for David could become more than friendship. They certainly get on very well. He sees her more for who she actually is.’

Norris is back!

It’s been a long time coming but everyone’s favourite snarky shopkeeper is back – but he is selling The Kabin and engaged to Freda! Mary is going to have to get accustomed to Norris’ life changes but will she be prepared for a divorce?

Iain smiled: ‘His return story is pleasantly silly and revisits his relationship with Mary in a meaningful way. I hope Malcolm likes it.’

Baby turmoil for Gemma

As Gemma and Chesney’s relationship seems closer and closer to hitting the rocks, Gemma has a big shock in store when she learns she is pregnant. And when she apparently learns she has quadruplets, she can see a money making scheme.

But what will it do to her relationship with Chesney?

Michelle heads off

Kym Marsh has announced that she is heading away from Coronation Street after a long tenure on the show but details of her exit have yet to be revealed. But will her recent split with Robert and Carla’s meltdown play a part in her departure?

Kym said: ‘When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later. It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to explore some other roles.’
