WWE Raw fans fume at Kofi vs Seth hijacking and Undertaker oddly returns AFTER WrestleMania

THE Raw after WrestleMania is always the biggest edition of the show all year – and last night’s Raw delivered some big surprises.

Sun Sport attended the show in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and here are the five big talking points from all of the action.

RAW FANS UNHAPPY

The show started with a huge surprise when The New Day – including new WWE Champion Kofi Kingston – interrupted new Universal Champion Seth Rollins.

Inspired by the women’s winner takes all match at WrestleMania, Kofi challenged Seth to a title-for-title match.

But the match was hijacked by The Bar for no reason and ended in a DQ – so there was an impromptu (and much less interesting) Kofi and Seth v The Bar tag match instead.

Kofi and Seth made a lively team and got the win – but fans were unhappy about being screwed out of seeing a proper conclusion to the big title-for-title match.

Fans chanted “AEW” (Cody Rhodes’ new rival promotion), “CM Punk” and “bulls**t”.

Some fans left the building before the action had finished and others threw beach balls around in protest.

But Rollins won back the fans’ attention after the show went off the air by calling out Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose to mark Ambrose’s final night on Raw with a heartfelt Shield reunion.

UNDERTAKER RETURNS

Elias tried for the second night running to hold a concert, this time baiting John Cena – who had interrupted him with a rap at WrestleMania – with some rapping of his own.

But Elias came to deeply regret his final line: “Mark my words, the next one to interrupt me is a dead man.”

The lights went out and the famous gong sounded to signal the arrival of The Undertaker.

There was a spine-tingling reaction in the building for the arrival of The Deadman, and Taker stepped into the ring for a stare down with Elias.

Elias tried to charge Taker, but got hit with a big boot, chokeslam, and Tombstone for his troubles.

Undertaker looked in his best shape for years in the segment.

But it’s strange that WWE chose not to bring him out at WrestleMania. It was the first Mania he’s missed in 18 years.

BECKY LYNCH V LACEY EVANS

“The Man” Becky Lynch came out wearing both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships.

She said she knows she’s now a marked woman in WWE and laid out a challenge to all comers – including Ronda Rousey when Ronda has finished “sulking”.

Becky said: “The Man will be here waiting to slap the empty head off your shoulders once again.”

It was a huge, crowd-pleasing promo from Becky. Fans chanted “You deserve it!” and “Becky two belts!” and sang her theme tune.

There was a surprise appearance from Lacey Evans, who did her usual routine of coming down to the ring for no reason – but this she time Lacey clocked Becky with a hard punch.

Becky fought back and the two women scrapped up the ramp and across the stage.

So it looks like Becky’s next challenger will be Lacey Evans. It’s good to see Becky up against fresh competition and Lacey doing something other than just waving.

LARS SULLIVAN RAW DEBUT

After Kurt Angle’s disappointing farewell match at a Mania, Baron Corbin came out to gloat about his win. Fans heckled Corbin with chants of “a**hole”.

Kurt Angle came out to shake Bazza’s hand and wish him luck. But Kurt swerved Corbin by adding that he meant “bad luck” and hit the Angle Slam and clamped on the Ankle Lock.

Fans lapped it up until Angle was confronted by Lars Sullivan, who finally made his main roster debut after delays because of reported anxiety attacks.

Lars nailed Kurt with his Freak Accident slam and a diving headbutt from the top rope.

SAMI ZAYN RETURNS

After 10 months out of action with two torn rotator cuffs, Sami Zayn made his long awaited return.

Sami had a huge ovation from the crowd (even though he embarrassingly fell over when he stepped out onto the stage) and issued an open challenge.

The challenge was answered by new Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor, who defeated Zayn in an exciting, quick-paced matchup when he landed the Coup de Grace.

Afterwards Zayn grabbed the mic and cut an excellent promo, saying that he knew the fans had missed him, but he hasn’t missed the fans at all.

He called WWE a “super toxic environment” because of the fans and their “ugliness”.

He said: “Your lives so seem so empty and devoid of any kind of meaning… you only get joy and satisfaction out of being critics.”

He then vowed to come out each week and hold the fans accountable for their failings. It was a masterful heel turn and delivery from Sami – let’s hope WWE gives him a good push on the back of it.
