UFC star Khabib hints at boxing debut in summer following Mayweather fight rumours

Should this fight with Mayweather take place, the 30-year-old could potentially be turning his back on the chance of defending his UFC lightweight title.

It has been reported that Khabib was made an offer by The Russia Boxing Federation for a fight in the summer and has asked that his fans tune in to watch.

The undefeated UFC champion defended his lightweight belt at UFC 229 against Conor McGregor when he submitted the Irishman in the fourth round of their grudge match in Las Vegas.

The champ has been linked to a title defence against Tony Ferguson but the Russian has now hinted that his next fight could be in a different sport altogether.

After talk of a fight against ‘Money Mayweather’, Nurmagomedov has taken to his social media saying he has met with The Boxing Federation of Russia where he was made an offer for a boxing match in the summer.

The Russian was handed a nine-month ban after leaping out of the cage and started a brawl with Connor McGregor’s team after he defeated the ‘Notorious One.’

McGregor then got involved as he fought with his opponent’s teammates.

Khabib was told his suspension will be reduced by three months if he completes community service.

Nurmagomedov apologised for his actions but revealed he had been provoked during the build-up to the fight, when McGregor had mocked his beliefs, country and family.

Floyd Mayweather has no interest in returning to the ring once again as Mayweather Promotions’ Leonard Ellerbe says the boxing great has nothing left to prove.

He's (Mayweather) retired, he has no interest in doing that," he said.

"He doesn't have the motivation, the desire. He's living the best life, travelling, running his multiple businesses, spending his well-hard earnings that he spent blood and tears on for years."

He added: "He'll be 42 come February 24 and enough is enough. What good does it do to earn all that money but you can't stick around and spend it. He has had a phenomenal career, he has broken all the records and he has nothing to prove."
