Why is UFC 232 taking place in Los Angeles and not Las Vegas?

Five days before the event, the whole of the UFC 232 card was sensationally moved from Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena to Los Angeles' Inglewood Forum.

An “abnormality” over a recent drugs test sample from Jon Jones is the reason behind the huge move for the December 30 bash.

A trace of turinabol was found in the fighters system, but because Nevada State Athletic Commission doesn’t have enough time to investigate, the whole show has been relocated.

It is the same substance the 31-year-old Jones was handed a 15-month suspension for back in 2017.

He was only cleared to return to the Octagon last week.

UFC VP of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky insists that this isn’t a violation by Jones, explaining that he and USADA have said that the positive test is a “pulsing” effect.

Novitzky said that there was only a “picogram” level of turinabol in Jones’ system.

He said: “A picogram is a one-trillionth of a gram. If you put one grain of salt on the table and split it up into 50 million pieces, a picogram is one of those pieces of that gram of salt.

“These levels have shown up in the single and double digits of picograms – so such a small amount.”

What happened last time they fought?

Jones won their first fight by a controversial unanimous decision at UFC 165 back in September 2013.

The American, who was cut in the first round, said after the bout that Gustafsson had given him his toughest fight to date.

What have the fighters said?

Jones: "It's difficult to express myself at this moment but I can definitely say my heart is filled with gratitude and appreciation.

"I want to thank all of you who have stood by me during the toughest stretch of my life. It has meant the world to me and always will. But now is the time to shift the focus front and centre to the road ahead.

"Greatness is what I’m chasing and the path to reclaiming my throne is now officially open. Comeback Season begins now."

Gustaffason:"Now we all understand why u didn’t take the Wada test! U can be on rocket fuel,, I’ll still gonna finish u Jon!"
