Phil Neville’s Lionesses take on the Americans in Lyon on Tuesday night as they look to reach their first-ever World Cup final.

And there is so much optimism that fans are scrambling to buy last minute tickets for the game, which is sold out at the 59,000-seater Parc Olympique Lyonnais. Those still searching are likely to pay a premium with Stubhub saying the average price of a ticket is now £240.

The game is sold out at the 59,000-seater Parc Olympique Lyonnais but tickets are available

That price has risen by 34 per cent since the U.S. beat hosts France in their quarter-final and set up the huge showdown with England.

The Lionesses are full of confidence going into the game after they brushed aside Norway 3-0 in their last-eight clash.

A lack of available tickets will surely mean the game has another chance of setting a TV audience record.

England’s victory against Norway was watched by a record-breaking audience of 7.64million people.

There was much interest in the game, with BBC One having a 38.6 per cent share of available audience.

The viewing figure surpassed the previous record for a women’s football match, which was set in the last-16 stage, when 6.9m people watched England beat Cameroon.

Manager Phil Neville got stuck into the action and oversaw the various practice drills

Tensions remain high ahead of the game though after the US sent match officials into the inner sanctum of the England team hotel to scout it as a place to stay.

Neville, who is clearly indignant, said on Sunday night that it was breach of ‘etiquette’ and that he would expect his opposite number Jill Ellis to instigate an investigation.

‘The only thing I would say is that it’s not something I would want my team ops person to do,’ said Neville, who declared he had no injury worries ahead of the semi-final.

‘I’m happy with my team hotel and I hope they are enjoying their hotel. It’s not something we would have done, sending someone around to (the opponents) hotel and I’m sure they will be dealing with it.

The two sides meet on Tuesday evening with a 20.00 kick-off time. The fixture will be broadcast live on BBC One.
