Redskins to start Josh Johnson after Mark Sanchez flounders in loss to Giants

Mark Sanchez did not make it far as starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins.

Making his first start since Week 12 of the 2015 regular season, Sanchez was pulled in the third quarter in favor of journeyman Josh Johnson, who signed with the team on Wednesday.

In less than three quarters of play, the 32-year-old Sanchez went 6-for-14 through the air, amassing just 38 passing yards while throwing two interceptions, one a pick-six at his own one-yard-line and the other a tipped pass off the hands of wide receiver Jamison Crowder. Playing behind a battered offensive line, he was sacked five times and faced pressure throughout the afternoon.

"It was tough sledding for sure, that's easy to figure out," Sanchez said after the game.
