Real Madrid and Barcelona head-to-head in huge double raid for Liverpool’s Klopp and Van Dijk – The Sun
SPANISH rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly set to go head-to-head in a double swoop for Liverpool pair Virgil van Dijk and Jurgen Klopp.
The La Liga giants have both managed just two wins from their opening four matches this season.
And with pressure sure to mount on Nou Camp boss Ernesto Valverde and Real manager Zinedine Zidane if results do not change, AS report both clubs are targeting a Liverpool raid.
Anfield boss Klopp is thought to be No1 choice for both Spanish rivals if they are to make a managerial change.
The German has guided Liverpool to two consecutive Champions League finals – lifting the trophy last season – while finishing second in the Premier League last term.
And failure to make an impact in Europe this season for either Valverde or Zidane could see them shown the door.
However, ex-Borussia Dortmund manager Klopp is under contract until 2022, but has spoken about the possibility of leaving Anfield once his deal expires.
Liverpool’s rock at centre-half, Van Dijk, is also understood to be a transfer target for Barca and Real, with the 28-year-old Dutchman recently winning the Champions League Player of the Year award.
But he penned a six-year earlier this month to remain at Anfield until 2025.
It would take a mammoth financial figure to lure either Liverpool’s manager or star defender away from the Premier League.
