Rashford cements status as Man Utd fans' favourite by dedicating future to club

The 21-year-old nursed an ankle problem for large swathes of the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and substitute Jesse Lingard's first half withdrawal to hamstring injuries meant the England international was forced to stay on and lead the attack.

Though he offered little in terms of threat his warrior spirit was there for all to see.

The sacrifice came at a cost however, with Rashford now expected to miss the mid-week trip to Crystal Palace.

Rashford, Lingard, Herrera and Mata join Nemanja Matic, Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo on the sidelines in what is a worrying lengthy United injury list.

With 10 goals this season, the boyhood United fan is enjoying the most fruitful period of his career.

Rashford burst on the scene aged 17, scoring twice in the Europa League against FC Midtjylland.

He followed up that display days later with another double against Arsenal in the Premier League.

The fine run during the twilight of the 2015-16 season saw him make a late surge into the England squad for Euro 2016.

Marking three years since announcing himself in the grand manner, Rashford wrote on his Twitter and Instagram accounts: "3 years on! Will never stop giving my all for United."

Less than 18 months remains on Rashford's contract at United with Barcelona and Real Madrid reportedly monitoring talks over a new deal – with discussions said to have stalled.

United fans however hope the recent message is a hint that Rashford wants to stay.

Twitter user Josh wrote: "It’s been a pleasure watching you over the years, so many more to come."

Season-ticket holder Asam added: "Absolute legend for playing through that with 1 leg, love you lad."

TBMPT gleamed: "Absolute warrior yesterday. I hope the injury ain’t too bad today."

Eluding to Mohamed Salah's insipid display during the goalless draw, Ron Lewis stated: "1 legged Rashford still better than 2 legged salah."

Another United regular Alex McBridge stated: "Credit to the club yesterday lad, gave 100% that's all we can ask for."
