Rakitic stunned by ex-Man Utd boss Mourinho’s praise and says not even his dad loves him as much as much as ‘world’s best football expert’

IVAN RAKITIC claimed Jose Mourinho is one of the best football experts in the world and was humbled by The Special One's recent plaudits.

Mourinho heaped praise on the midfielder after his goal scoring performance in Barcelona's 1-0 El Clasico win over Real Madrid this month and the 31-year-old was very grateful to the Portuguese.

Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United in December and was working as a pundit for Qatari channel BeIN sports when he lavished the Croatian with compliments.

He said: "He is a fantastic player at every level.

"He does defensive work on the right side to compensate for Messi and he runs miles.

"In ball posession he is fantastic and he is simple and effective."

Mourinho did not stop there and added: "He is one of the most underrated players.

"Normally we speak about big names but Rakitic, for me needs to improve his Instagram and his social media because in this moment this is very important and he's not very good on that but he's very good on the pitch."

Speaking before Croatia's Euro 2020 qualifier with Hungary, Rakitic gave his humble response to the 56-year-old's comments.

He said: "I do not have enough words to thank Mourinho, he is one of the best experts in the world."

The midfielder then hilariously added: "I do not know if my Dad has ever praised me in a better way.

"These are very nice praises that I enjoy."
