Racing Report Card: A star performer, a beautiful ride and a horse for the tracker at The Curragh

THE CURRAGH had some Magical action on Monday, with some Group and Listed fare spicing up an otherwise mediocre Bank Holiday.

We've picked out some moments you may have missed on a busy afternoon at Irish HQ.

Star performer ?

There were a whole host to choose from but the vote goes to Dermot Weld's Shelir, who maintained her unbeaten record in the Tetrarch Stakes.

Taking on a strong field, she knuckled down late on to draw clear for an emphatic victory and looks a filly to keep an eye on as the season progresses.

It would be no surprise to see her stepped up to a mile now and she should be capable of plenty more after just two starts for her maestro handler.

Ride of the day ?

Ryan Moore had favourite-backers drooling as he produced a masterclass aboard Happen in the Group 3 Athasi Stakes.

Holding his mount up in last, the Aidan O'Brien-trained filly mowed down her opposition on the outside, getting her nose in front on the line.

It was a ride of supreme confidence and one that we've all come to expect from the top-class pilot, who continues to bang in the winners on a regular basis.

One for the tracker ?

The Aidan O'Brien-trained debut winner King Neptune was all the rage for the Listed 5f Flier Stakes, but he had no answers to Ickworth's impressive turn of foot.

The daughter of Shamardal cruised into contention under an oh-so-confident Billy Lee and took the field part in a matter of strides.

She's definitely one to follow and will surely head to Royal Ascot.
