Phil Mickelson won’t be betting with penny-pinching Matt Kuchar

We finally found the person Phil Mickelson won’t bet with on the golf course.

Mickelson, who is started the third round three strokes off the lead at 4-under, posted a video on his Twitter account during his drive up Magnolia Lane at Augusta National on Saturday. He had some fun at Matt Kuchar’s expense while talking up his own strong play at the Masters

Mickelson said there is nothing better than being in contention on the weekend at the Masters and noted there won’t be any wagering between he and Kuchar when the pair tees off at 1:45 p.m. Mickelson is known for enjoying some friendly betting on the golf course.

“Obviously we’re not going to have any side action today because I’d probably see like .06 percent if I did win,” Mickelson said in the video. “But we’re going to have a great day today. I love his caddie Woody [John Wood].”

The comment is making light of when Kuchar made headlines in February for originally paying his stand-in caddie, David Giral Ortiz, the agreed upon $5,000 after he earned $1.3 million for winning Mayakoba Classic last November. Kuchar eventually apologized and paid Ortiz $50,000.

Mickelson also seemed happy with his performance so far at the Masters, noting the he is “hitting bombs” and getting to 125.1 clubhead speed last night – something he said hasn’t done in his life. The three-time Masters champ doesn’t plan on stopping because of how much longer drives have statically helped lower scored at Augusta.

“That’s what I’m gonna do today, hit bombs and attack the pin here at the Masters” Mickelson said.
