Paul Scholes: Fans think Mourinho will be begging for pundit role covering Oldham games

The 44-year-old was well-known for his harsh criticism of the Portuguese coach during his Old Trafford times.

When United's results in the Premier League deteriorated, Scholes' scathing Jose rants became a common theme of his TV pundit appearances.

The Red Devils legend berated Mourinho for his ear-cupping celebration after this season's away Champions League win at Juventus.

Scholes also branded the 56-year-old Portuguese as an "embarrassment" and a "moaner" – and even claimed he orchestrated his Old Trafford sack in December.

Mourinho is no novice to punditry as he commented on last year's World Cup for Russian Today, as well as this season's games for beIN Sports after parting ways with United.

And fans on social media, familiar with the mantra saying that revenge is a dish best served cold, believe that Mourinho would now love to offer his two cents on Scholes' Oldham gig in return.

One wrote on Twitter: "Paul Scholes appointed Oldham manager. Get Mourinho on BT Sports and start broadcasting League 2 games. I'm going out to get some popcorn."

Another added: "It can either go amazingly well for Paul Scholes or Mourinho will be laughing."

While third wrote: "I pray Scholes doesn't flop. If he does, Mourinho is coming for him."

And fourth wrote: "Scholes is a manager, Mourinho is a pundit. It is going to be a lot of fun."

Scholes has already taken charge of his first training session at Oldham – before signing his one-and-a-half year deal.
