Paul Pogba looks relaxed as he prepares to meet new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man Utd training base

The Old Trafford squad, including Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard, all made their way to Carrington today after a whirlwind 24 hours.

Jose Mourinho was finally sacked by United yesterday morning following the 3-1 loss to fierce rivals Liverpool.

United has been engulfed in an incredible 24 hours since Mourinho's axing, with Paul Pogba facing a fine for his Instagram post.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer has been named caretaker manager for the rest of the season and takes charge immediately – presumably in the hope they can land Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino in the summer.

Despite the frenetic day, United stars were straight back to training today, having been overseen by Michael Carrick yesterday.

Anthony Martial, Antonio Valencia and Nemanja Matic were just three spotted driving into the Aon Training Complex earlier today.

And they are set to meet Solskjaer today with the Molde and former Cardiff chief taking over for the rest of the 2018-19 campaign.

He will be joined by Mike Phelan as first-team coach, together with Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna.

Solskjaer will then return to the Norwegian club at the end of his six-month stay.

On his return, Solskjaer said: "Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role.

"I’m really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club."

Meanwhile, it's been revealed Mourinho snubbed the traditional United staff Christmas dinner in one final act of defiance before his sacking.

Elsewhere, reports have surfaced regarding players' dislike of "t**t" Mourinho – who also refused to hire Ryan Giggs over his affair with his brother's wife.
