Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrives at Lowry Hotel as he checks into new job as Man Utd boss

The Norwegian was named interim manager until the end of the season after Jose Mourinho's sacking.

And former Red Devils striker Solskjaer was pictured arriving at the team's hotel at 7.40pm in the back of a car.

Solskjaer will step into Mourinho's job at Old Trafford, and perhaps he might even fill the luxury £870-a-night suite that the Portuguese left behind.

And the 45-year-old will now prepare for his first game in charge of United on Saturday against Cardiff – a side he used to manage.

Mourinho lived in the Lowry Hotel for his entire 895-day reign as Manchester United boss, but moved back to his west London house this week.

He left his temporary northern home for the last time on Tuesday hours after learning he had been axed.

The hotel is popular choice with A-listers visiting Manchester. Rita Ora, Robbie Williams and Justin Bieber have all checked in.

United confirmed Molde boss Solskjaer arrival this morning, with the Old Trafford legend taking the helm until a permanent successor is made next summer.

He will be joined by Mike Phelan as first-team coach, together with Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna – and then return back to Norwegian club Molde at the end of his six month stay.

Solskjaer said: "Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role.

"I’m really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club."

Ed Woodward, Executive Vice Chairman, explained why he turned to Solskjaer: “Ole is a club legend with huge experience, both on the pitch and in coaching roles.

"His history at Manchester United means he lives and breathes the culture here and everyone at the club is delighted to have him and Mike Phelan back.

"We are confident they will unite the players and the fans as we head into the second half of the season.”
