Manitoba’s Alexa Scott, Tyson Langelaar add to medal haul at Canada Games

Manitoba won three more speed skating medals at the Canada Winter Games on Wednesday in Red Deer.

Clandeboye’s Alexa Scott claimed two more gold medals. The 17-year-old set another Canada Games record by winning the Long Track 1000 metre race in a time of 1:22.26. She finished more than a second faster than the second place finisher.

Scott won her third gold medal later in the day in the long track – Female Mass Start event.

Scott has won three gold medals in three races after she also won the Long Track 3000m race on Tuesday.

Winnipeg’s Tyson Langelaar also continued to pile on the hardware. He won the gold medal in the Long Track 1000m race. Langelaar’s time of 1:12.79 set another Canada Games record. Langelaar has now been on the podium four times at the games. The 20-year-old also won golds in the 1500m and 500m and claimed the silver medal in the 5000m race.

All of Manitoba’s medals at the Canada Winter Games have been won on the speed skating oval. Now into the sixth day of competition, Manitoba’s medal haul stands at seven total medals including six gold medals and a silver medal.
