Man Utd staff member rushed to hospital after being taken ill overnight – The Sun

A MEMBER of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's backroom team was rushed to hospital after being taken ill on tour in Australia.

And it has now been claimed a man was taken by ambulance from the team hotel after suffering an overdose.

Manchester United are currently Down Under continuing their pre-season preparations.

However, the Red Devils suffered a scare after one of the manager's trusted lieutenants required medical assistance at the team hotel.

The club confirmed the news from Perth this morning.

A statement read: "A member of our backroom staff was taken ill overnight and has been sent to hospital by our club doctor for further treatment.

"We request that medical confidentiality is respected."

United face Perth Glory tomorrow in their first game of the tour before battling old foes Leeds in the same city on Wednesday.

Solskjaer and his squad then travel to Singapore where they will take on Inter Milan in eight days.

The Norwegian and his staff put the players through their paces yesterday in front of Aussie supporters in an open training session at the WACA Ground.

But just moments before they took to the pitch, a plane hired by cheeky Liverpool supporters was spotted above in the sky.

It flew past carrying a large banner, which read: "LIVERPOOL FC – 6x European Champions!"
