Man Utd boss Solskjaer claims PSG-bound Herrera is injured because he's worried about his future

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has bizarrely claimed that Ander Herrera could be injured because he is worried about his future.

Herrera is out with a thigh injury yet United boss Solskjaer wonders whether the fact he has not agreed a new deal with United amid interest from PSG is playing on his mind.

Solskjaer said: "Maybe the future might have been worrying him and that's part of the reason he's injured, who knows? He doesn't know, because he got a different injury, hopefully he can be available for Chelsea or City but I'm not sure."

Herrera, whose United deal is up this summer, got a hamstring injury in the game against Liverpool on February 24.

He returned to action against Wolves and Watford this month but then got a thigh injury in training last weekend.

Solskjaer said: “He's been working really hard to get fit from his injury he sustained against Liverpool.

“He then came back and got a different one here in training.

“He's been putting a lot of work in and that's come at a time as you say there are contract talks but that's ongoing.”

But Solskjaer could not shed any light on how the contract talks were going or whether the player would be staying beyond this season.

He said: "I can't really comment too much on how far they are down the line.

"You have to ask him.

"I don't know how they've been the last few talks, but we've let him focus on his fitness as well.

"He loves to play and is not very happy when he can't help his team-mates."
