Liverpool ace Ejaria to join Reading after failed link-up with Gerrard at Rangers

Ejaria, 21, will have a medical this morning ahead of a six-month loan to the Madejski Stadium.

He returned early from his season-long move to Rangers after growing unsettled in Scotland but is now heading to the Championship.

The London-born midfielder was highly rated by Steven Gerrard at Ibrox but allowed him to return when the move did not work out.

Ejaria will now be part of Jose Gomes’ squad for the rest of the campaign in the second tier.

He is then expected to return to Anfield and compete for a first-team place after his third loan away from Merseyside.

Sunderland took him on a short-term deal last season but he could not prevent them getting relegated into League One.

The starlet made 28 appearances in total for the Gers and scored twice.

Ejaria was part of England Under-20 World Cup-winning squad in 2017 and has since gone on to be capped at U21 level.

He could make his Reading debut at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
