Who is Tiger Woods?
Eldrick Tont Woods was born on December 30, 1975 and is nicknamed Tiger.
He is an American professional golfer and has been a pro since 1996 at the age of 20 – standing at 1.85m or 6ft.
The 42-year-old is currently dating Erica Herman after divorcing his wife Elin Nordegren in 2010 after six years of marriage following his infidelity.
Why was he arrested?
On May 29, 2017 Woods was arrested near his home in Florida for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
He was found asleep in his car which had stopped in a traffic lane with its engine still running.
He later stated that he was taking prescription drugs which he had not realised would interact when mixed with alcohol.
Woods entered a not guilty plea through his attorney at his arraingment and agreed to take part in a DUI offender programme.
On October 27, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving, received a year of probation, was fined $250 and ordered to undergo 50 hours of community service as well as taking regular drug tests.
When was the last time he won a major?
Tiger Wooods has won 14 career majors but has not lifted a major trophy since 2007. .
In 1997 he became the youngest winner of the US Masters, with a record score – winning by 12 strokes.
He went on to win three more Masters in 2001, 2002 and 2005.
He won two more U.S. Opens in 2002 and 2008 – with the latter being his final major.
And he also won another two Open Championships in the space of two years in 2005 and 2006.
Woods also boasts four PGA Championships in 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007.
That puts him four majors behind the great Jack Nicklaus, who won 18 in his career.
