How Newcastle could line up under Jose Mourinho as 'takeover bidders' eye ex-Chelsea and Man Utd manager

WITH Jose Mourinho linked to becoming the new Newcastle manager, he will already be fantasising about chopping and changing the Toon squad.

The former Man United boss is the No1 choice for billionaire Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan who is aiming to buy the club from Mike Ashley.

Terms have been agreed and the Bin Zayed Group told SunSport a proof of funds statement was sent to Ashley's lawyers in April.

It would provide Mourinho with a big budget for the summer transfer window, something Rafa Benitez has long called for in the North East.

A takeover with Mourinho in charge could see the Toon emerge as a similar version of Wolves, with the coach tapping into his agent Jorge Mendes' clients.

That could see the potential for a return for Radamel Falcao to the Premier League.

BACK FOR MOUR

Mourinho has often relied on players who have something to prove and after two failed spells in England, with Man United and Chelsea, Falcao falls under that category.

Despite being 33, the Colombian struck 19 goals last season and could add a touch of class to the team's attack.

Mourinho's work with Mendes may also see Newcastle swoop in for Andre Gomes.

The Barcelona midfielder, who spent last year on loan at Everton, looked destined for Goodison Park while West Ham are also fighting for his services.

Gomes can add the touch of class to Mourinho's potential midfield.

And a final Mendes client who could find his way to St. James' Park is the impressive and formidable Portuguese centre-back Ruben Dias.

The 22-year-old is a ball-playing defender who is a star member of Benfica academy's alumni.

Mourinho could also have a reunion with two of his former Man United players in Juan Mata and Antonio Valencia.

SunSport already revealed Newcastle were keen on battling Barcelona for Mata, and Mourinho mended his relationship with the classy Spaniard at Old Trafford.

Valencia, meanwhile, can bring leadership qualities and power to his defence.

Mourinho could also have another reunion and bargain by taking Gary Cahill to the North-East.

The veteran centre-back, who Mourinho won a Prem title with, has been released by Chelsea and is a free agent.
