Friday's ITV horse racing NAP: Your best bets for today's racing at York and Newbury from Callum Jamieson

FRIDAY at York doesn't have the X-Factor of the opening two days and punting wise it looks a tad trickier.

But I'm very sweet on one in the last, as well as a couple up my sleeve from Newbury.

Starting on the Knavesmire, LAAFY (York, 5.05) looks a terrific bet to close the card.

He's doubled in size from two to three and took the eye on his return to action at Leicester recently.

The handicapper hasn't over-reacted – perhaps his poor juvenile form helping – and a mark of 83 looks very generous and allows him to run in this Class 4.

The step up in trip is certainly a positive, and Stoute's horses – on the whole – are going very well.

Over to Berkshire, and HIGH COMMISSIONER (Newbury, 4.25) went straight into my tracker after his debut at the same track.

I'll hold off from a bet until close to the off with a quick market and eyes on check the order of the day.

But this doesn't look the deepest maiden for Newbury and this well-bred colt could well continue Paul Cole's fine start to the season.

Friday's bets at York and Newbury

York 5.05 – Laafy (NAP)

Newbury 4.25 – High Commissioner

Newbury 5.30 – Keeper's Choice (each-way)

I'll also be having a nibble at Newbury specialist KEEPER'S CHOICE (Newbury, 5.30).

He's run well here in better races in the past and is only a few pounds higher than a course and distance win early last season.

He goes best fresh and returns to the track with Denis Coakley's local stable in fine fettle.
