Five things we learnt from Raw as The Undertaker returns and demands dream Goldberg fight

WWE returns to Saudi Arabia this Friday for Super ShowDown, headlined by the first ever clash between Undertaker and Goldberg.

Here are five talking points from the “go home” edition of Raw last night.

BROCK PROMISES CASH-IN

After the gag last week about Brock not knowing he had a whole year to carry his Money in the Bank contract, “The Beast” was told that he MUST cash-in last night on Raw.

But he still didn’t. Instead, Brock destroyed Universal Champion Seth Rollins with a barrage of suplexes, chair shots, and an F-5 to the outside.

The beat-down came after Rollins had a verbal confrontation and brawl with his Super ShowDown opponent Baron Corbin.

Rollins first got the upper hand but Corbin surprised Seth by hitting End of Days – which prompted Brock to finally emerge and destroy Rollins.

Paul Heyman begged Brock to cash-in while he had Rollins beat. Brock refused and said he’ll do it this Friday – Brock obviously fancies a slice of that big payday WWE is getting for the Saudi Arabia shows.

But “The Beast” never said which champion he’ll cash-in on (Kofi Kingston could be in trouble) and Brock continued to wallop Seth with chair shots until Seth was stretchered out.

Storyline-wise WWE is all over the place – but you can’t deny the power of a good old fashioned Brock Lesnar beating.

UNDERTAKER RETURNS

There were two promos to build excitement for the big legacy matches at Super ShowDown this Friday.

First up, former Evolution members and longtime rivals Triple H and Randy Orton came face-to-face ahead of their umpteenth matchup.

Orton took a jab at Triple H when he said: “Can you promise me something? That you’ll retrieve your balls from Stephanie’s purse?”

Trips laughed it off and said: “I think I’ll do just that. They’re just so big and it’s a such a burden carrying them around… you wouldn’t know anything about because you’ve never had any.”

But the most chilling words belonged to The Undertaker, who returned at the end of the show to address his dream match against Goldberg.

The Deadman said: “When I stand across the ring from you for the very first time, I don’t want Goldberg the family man… I want the unstoppable, mythical icon Goldberg.

“If you bring anything less, out first match will be your last… I will claim your soul for all of eternity. Goldberg, you’re next.”

THE MAN COMES AROUND

Becky Lynch came to the ring to say that despite being Raw women’s champ, she’s not going to settle for being content – instead, she’s still targeting Lacey Evans.

Lacey came out to confront Becky, quickly followed by Charlotte Flair – but Lacey and Charlotte argued amongst themselves and Lacey nailed Charlotte with the Women’s Right.

Lacey and Charlotte then had an impromptu match which ended when Becky dragged Charlotte off the apron for a DQ finish.

Becky then jumped in the ring to hit Lacey with her new “Man Handle Slam” finisher.

WWE is treading water with its women’s feuds at the moment. The women aren’t allowed to compete at the Saudi show so they will have to wait until the next PPV.

But it looks like we’re heading towards a Becky v Lacey v Charlotte three-way at Stomping Grounds on June 23.

MUSCLE MAN DANCE

The FireFly Fun House reached even more bizarre heights last night with Bray Wyatt performing the, erm, “Muscle Man Dance”.

The skit began with Bray introducing a new puppet character “Huskus the Pig Boy”, who sat on the sideboard scoffing chocolate.

The puppet is a reference to Bray’s porkier days as Husky Harris, a character he dropped before reinventing himself as the Wyatt Family leader.

As Bray took the pig boy’s chocolate away, a puppet shaped like Vince McMahon with devil horns popped his head round the door.

Before Vince could fire them for being out of shape, Bray and Huskus did the cartoonish workout video-style Muscle Man Dance.

It ended with Bray urging the boys and girls once again to “let me in.”

This was among the most out-there segments WWE has ever produced – and hot of the heels of Jon Moxley’s Vince-bashing podcast last week, a fascinating in-joke at the expense Vince and the WWE process.

While WWE is being roundly criticised for its (mostly) dreary product, it has to get full credit for making Bray Wyatt the most interesting thing on wrestling television. And we haven’t even seen him back in the ring yet…

REY MYSTERIO RELIQUISHES THE TITLE

In a moment that’s been weeks in the making, Rey Mysterio handed the US Championship back to Samoa Joe.

Rey claimed he was relinquishing the belt due to a shoulder injury, but Joe has maintained that Rey never beat him for the title in the first place – Joe’s shoulder was clearly up when he was pinned at Money in the Bank.

Either way, Rey promised to do his duty “as a man and as a champion” and handed the belt over to Joe.

Joe repaid Rey’s honourable move by attacking the masked superstar and choking him out with the Coquina Clutch. What a heel.

But how long until Rey’s son Dominick finally gets involved and steps in to help out his dad in this war against Samoa Joe? That’s clearly where this storyline is going.
