Ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas dismisses Spurs' Champions League hopes in Twitter spat with club legend Graham Roberts

CESC FABREGAS became embroiled in a bizarre Twitter spat with Spurs legend Graham Roberts after taking a swipe at his old club's Champions League chances.

Fabregas teased Tottenham fans by asking: "Would you rather get to the Champions League final and be a runner up or win the Europa League? Just curious."

With Spurs preparing for a Champions League semi-final against Ajax and Fabregas' old side Arsenal ready to face Valencia in the Europa League last-eight, his question provoked Roberts.

The 59-year-old trolled the Monaco midfielder by replying: "Not getting much game time now then Cesc?"

Fabregas, 31, has made 11 Ligue 1 appearances since joining the French club from Chelsea in January.

Whether Roberts was displaying a lack of French football knowledge or simply being playful, the response from the World Cup winner turned things sour.

Fabregas said: "I don't know who you are and I don't know if I'm getting enough game time or not but I do know you won't win anything this season."

Ex-Spurs defender Roberts won two FA Cups and a Uefa Cup between 1980 and 1986.

He also enjoyed spells at Rangers and Chelsea during his 21-year career.

The cheeky tweet by Fabregas received 30,000 likes and even got a response from Arsenal supporting celeb Matt Lucas who simply said: "This tweet is amazing."

The Europa League semi-finals see Arsenal face Valencia and Chelsea take on Eintracht Frankfurt while Spurs face Ajax in their Champions League semi-final.
